Dún Laoghaire – Dublin
Dún Laoghaire
Perched gracefully on Dublin Bay, Dún Laoghaire is one of Ireland’s most distinctive seaside towns….a place where sea air, heritage architecture, and cultural life come together with effortless style. Once a bustling Victorian port, today it’s a vibrant hub for walkers, swimmers, sailors, and café-goers alike

DUBLINS COASTAL GEM
Founded as “Kingstown” in the early 19th century and later restored to its Irish name, Dún Laoghaire carries a maritime legacy that’s still felt today. The twin piers, harbour walls, and grand façades tell the story of an era when the seaside was the height of sophistication…yet the town continues to evolve with modern energy.
Whether you’re walking the East Pier, watching ferries glide across the bay, or admiring the view from the People’s Park, there’s a sense of openness and sea breeze that defines life here. It’s no surprise that this stretch of coastline has inspired artists, writers, and filmmakers for generations.

The sea is Dún Laoghaire’s heartbeat. From early-morning sea swimmers at Sandycove’s Forty Foot to sailors racing from the National Yacht Club, the water is part of the rhythm of local life. For walkers, the East and West Piers are Dublin’s most iconic strolls….each offering postcard views and the best ice creams for miles.
At weekends, the People’s Park Market draws locals and visitors to browse artisan food, crafts, and local produce in a relaxed, community atmosphere. Across the green, the Victorian bandstand hosts live music in summer, adding a nostalgic charm.

Food and Drink
Food in Dún Laoghaire reflects its coastal location… fresh, simple, and full of flavour. You’ll find artisan cafés and bakeries on every corner, while local favourites like Fallon & Byrne, Casper & Giumbini’s, and Hartley’s deliver seaside dining with style. For something sweet, Teddy’s Ice Cream remains a Dublin institution since 1950….a must after a pier walk.
