New Food Yard! As the winds of Storm Ashley began to pick up this afternoon, we found ourselves outside the new ‘yard’ at Kellys on the corner. It’s far from the days of street food meaning a single lonely burger van…..the new venture has exploded over the past couple of weeks with a range of street food vendors calling this new ‘Food Yard’ in Wexford town home. Visitors are certain to love the fuss-free, casual nature of the quirky place and it will give them the opportunity to try something new in the town.
– Inside the yard you will find the award-winning Galway-based chain Handsome Burger that gained notoriety last year after they were named ‘Burger of the Year’ at the Irish Takeaway Awards and also nabbed the ‘Burger Bar of the Year’ trophy at the Food Awards Ireland. For those craving something a little different, Chef Denise Darrer’s Little Catch Seafood Bar serves up crispy prawns drizzled with Korean barbecue sauce, kimchi, and sesame lime slaw, all tucked inside a soft steamed bao bun. husband-and-wife duo Fergal and Mirna O’Gara bring their passion for falafel to life at Al Wadi Falafel, where you can enjoy falafel served with generous portions of homemade hummus. Aishwarya Aroumont’s Aishu’s Samayal offers a taste of South India with her crispy, golden dosas—thin, savoury crepes made from a fermented batter of white gram and rice. These are served hot with tangy chutneys and flavourful sambar, delivering an authentic experience. For those with a sweet tooth, Derek Glisenan’s handcrafted Charly’s cheesecakes offer indulgence with their creamy textures and a variety of flavours to choose from.
