Waterford Crystal – Waterford
For nearly 250 years, Waterford Crystal has been made the hard way. Inside the factory, molten crystal is worked by hand at temperatures exceeding 1,300°C, shaped using tools and techniques that have changed very little since the 18th century.

Each piece begins on the blowing platform, where master blowers form molten crystal using wooden moulds and hand tools. From there, the crystal moves through multiple inspection stages. Only pieces that meet strict quality standards progress; any that don’t are returned to the furnace.

Cutting follows. Patterns are executed from memory, with cutters applying precise pressure to achieve detail without compromising the structure of the crystal. Sculpting and engraving add further definition, using traditional methods that require time, accuracy and control.
The result is crystal shaped by people who know the process inside out. Every stage of Waterford crystal depends on timing and judgement, and this art is built from years on the factory floor.
